Hi, I’m Adam, a Report for America corps member and reporter for the Raleigh News & Observer. My assignment in Raleigh is to report on the ongoing recovery from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence, an uneven process that has generally happened faster for those with money and slower for those without. My work explores these inequities and how the recovery is reshaping large swaths of Eastern North Carolina.
Furthermore, I am focused on the already occurring impacts of climate change in North Carolina, particularly frequent flooding and hotter temperatures. These impacts are already being felt among the state’s most vulnerable citizens and, I have found, are often indicative of existing fault lines in society.
Before coming to the News & Observer, I reported on a wide variety of beats at the Wilmington (N.C.) StarNews. In addition to local government reporting, I covered criminal justice and the environment. While covering the environment, I wrote extensively about the contamination of the Cape Fear River by Chemours.
I am a 2012 graduate of Ohio University and am originally from Pittsburgh. In my off time, I enjoy reading and watching the English Premier League.
